Arrive at Johannesburg International Airport, and, after clearing customs and immigration and collecting your luggage, you will be met by our Johannesburg representative in the Arrivals Hall. He will hand you your Nationwide Airline and Air Botswana tickets, and then show you to the correct check-in counter for your flight to Livingstone Airport.
There are generally two flights to Livingstone: either flight CE202 departing Johannesburg at 11h20, arriving 12h55, or flight CE204, departing at 12h15, and arriving at 13h50. You should check-in for this flight at least 1.5 hours before departure time.
After clearing customs and immigration at Livingstone Airport (we will apply for a visa fee waiver on your behalf), you will be met by a representative of Songwe Point Village, who will drive you to the lodge, which lies around 30 minutes away.
We will request a waiver for your Zambian visa charges on your behalf.
This region of Zambia has recently been described as the adventure capital of the world, allowing guests to enjoy the tranquil and exclusive domain of the beautiful Songwe Village.
This stunning property is perched 120 meters or nearly 400 feet above the Zambezi Gorge, just a short drive from the Falls. Here you’ll stay in a spacious, comfortable thatched hut, built in the traditional style. Each one of the eight huts has a flushing toilet and amenities with commanding views of the gorge below.
Songwe Village bathrooms were rated by the editor of the Saturday Star Travel Supplement as the best in Africa.
The Songwe experience can be anything you want it to be. You might simply choose to take a walk along the gorge and take in the incredible scenes, or pack a picnic lunch and watch the world go idly by from the banks of the Upper Zambezi. As well as offering the big adventure experiences, from white water rafting to bungee jumping or even a microlight flight over the Falls, Songwe is about people and culture, set in an intimate and beautiful location.
Whilst at Songwe Village, all your meals and drinks are included in the price.
From the camp, you’ll be taken on a morning ox cart ride to the specially built museum, where you can learn about the extraordinary ancient history of the Falls and see evidence of human evolution in the form of stone tools and artifacts.
At nearby Mukuni Village, more recent history comes to life, as you stand under the tree where David Livingstone met the present chief’s ancestors about 150 years ago. In this 700-year-old village, little has changed down through the ages. You’ll see traditional skills such as wood carving and grain pounding still being carried out. You may even chance a meeting with Chief Mukuni himself.
The town of Livingstone itself, with its fascinating history, colorful markets, and interesting museum, can be a very worthwhile excursion.
Whether you’d like to feel the cooling spray from the Falls, hear the traditional songs of our Zambian staff, take in a game of golf at nearby Elephant Hills Country Club or catch a fighting tiger fish in the Zambezi … everything at and around Songwe will elevate your African experience.
Songwe Village is a reflection of the Zambian government’s positive and enthusiastic approach to tourism. You will feel this energy in the warmth and friendliness of the staff. Like a growing number of people, they and we believe Zambia is the very best place from which to see and enjoy Victoria Falls. It is safe, vibrant and when you gaze down anywhere into the gorges around Songwe, indescribably beautiful.
After breakfast at Songwe Village, you will be transferred, by a representative of Falcon-safaris to the Kazangula border crossing, boated across the Chobe River, and then driven on to Chobe Garden Lodge, situated on the banks of the Chobe River. This transfer will take around one hour and forty-five minutes.
The Garden Lodge is located in the small town of Kasane in northern Botswana, overlooking the Chobe River. Bordering the Chobe National Park and a two-hour drive from Victoria Falls, this boutique lodge is perfectly positioned. The combination of unlimited water and constant sunshine allows hibiscus, frangipani, bougainvillea, banana, and pawpaw to grow in profusion. Guests love the garden and the prolific birds are attracted to the flowers and fruits.
The lodge has eight bedrooms (4 doubles and 4 family sizes), each with its bathroom and private verandah overlooking the Chobe River.
The lounge and dining room are furnished in teak and wicker. You will have the choice of sitting inside under the thatched roof or outside by the swimming pool. The bar is upstairs and overlooks the Chobe River. It is informally known as the Map Room due to the large number of maps hung on the walls.
Two activities of your choice per day will be included during your stay.
Activities revolve around game viewing by vehicle and boat into The Chobe National Park. The Chobe River is a tributary of the mighty Zambezi River, home to the famed tiger fish. The lodge supplies all the tackle needed to catch these monsters, but respectfully request guests to practice catch & release. Guests seeking insight into tribal life will appreciate a mokoro (a traditional dugout canoe) trip to villages in Namibia. Your guide will take you from Botswana to Namibia by mokoro and on foot through the villages.
After breakfast at the Garden Lodge, and a morning activity of your choice, a representative of the lodge will transfer you to Kasane Airport (20 minutes), where you will be met by the pilot who will be flying you to Okuti Camp. This flight will take around 80 minutes, and provides spectacular views of the Chobe National Park and the Okavango Delta, so have your cameras ready!
Okuti Camp is situated in the remote northeastern part of the Okavango Delta, within the Moremi Game Reserve, positioned under large trees at the edge of the Xakanaka lagoon and within close range of shallow flood plains, papyrus swamp, and dense riverine forest. It is a small and private camp catering for a maximum of 20 guests, accommodated in insect-proofed thatched chalets with en-suite bathrooms. Each of the chalets is positioned to overlook one of the delta’s famous lagoons, so that guests may enjoy the splendor of the African sunset.
The Moremi Game Reserve is known for its abundant wildlife which roams free across the diverse landscape. This includes a huge number of mammals and all the large predators. The exciting trip to the upper delta in a motorboat will allow you to view the abundant birdlife, Hippos, Crocodiles, and various small water animals.
In the evening you may relax by the campfire and wait for your dinner to be served in the candlelit dining room, followed by liqueurs enjoyed in the sunken lounge.
Activities include safari game viewing in open 4×4 vehicles into the Moremi Game Reserve, and boat trips through the myriad twisting channels of the famous Okavango Delta. There are over 450 species of birds and 75 species of mammal, including elephant, lion & leopard.
After an early morning activity of your choice, and brunch, you will return to the airstrip, for your forty-minute flight to Makgadikgadi Camp airstrip, where you will be met by a representative of the lodge, for your short drive to camp.
The largest expanse of ‘nothingness’ on earth, an area the size of Switzerland, clearly visible from outer space, Makgadikgadi is devoid of anything but salt and shimmering horizon. Makgadikgadi is a vast relic of Africa’s largest body of water and a hitherto unknown cradle of earliest man’s genesis. Infernal mirages warp reality into twisted parodies during the heat of the dry season and with the coming of the rains, life-giving water seeps into the pans, stimulating an annual pulse of life. The baking soda void is transformed into one of Africa’s most remarkable ecosystems
Makgadikgadi Camp, a real bush camp offering the essence of Africa, is situated on Hyena Falcon in the northern region of the Makgadikgadi Pans.
Accommodation is in 8 comfortable en-suite cottage tents secluded among palms and acacias.
A splash pool gives refuge from the midday sun and the traditionally built mess, with its thatch roof and open fireplace, is ideal for relaxation.
The main activity is exploring the pans on Quad Bikes.
In the wet season (November to March), this vast area of saltpans interspersed with low-lying grass Falcons is the destination of herds of migrating zebra.
Whilst at Makgadikgadi Camp all your meals and all your drinks are included in your Tour as is a daily laundry service, so you will have no extras to pay for other than gratuities.
Your Host will briefly introduce you to the Camp and its environment and plan daily Itineraries to suit your interests. The environment is amazing and will be unlike anywhere else that you have ever visited. Large salt pans in the midst of nowhere!
After cocktails Dinner will be served in the Mess.
Your excursions into the desert will be by both 4×4 Game viewing vehicle and on 4×4, 4 wheeled quad motorcycles – a truly amazing way to explore this fascinating area, considered to be the ‘cradle of mankind’.
An early morning activity, breakfast, rest, and then back to the airstrip for your flight into Maun Airport where you will connect with Air Botswana, flight BP211, departing Maun at 15h00 and arriving back in Johannesburg at 16h40.

We travelled with Falcon Safaris in Zimbabwe and Botswana for 16 days. Falcon designed a wonderful trip with private guide to the most interesting sites in both countries. The organization of the whole trip was excellent, flights within the country, accommodation and activites. The guides were very knowledgable and told us a lot about the countries, their history, people, economy and much more.
Our Consultant Vimbai was very helpful and accommodating. We stayed at the Elephant hills hotel which was nothing short of amazing. Our activities included a helicopter flight, dinner cruise as well as a morning game drive. All the activities were absolutely amazing.
Our trip consisted of accommodation and tours in Victoria Falls, transfers to Botswana, accommodation and photography safaris there, then transfers back to Zimbabwe. Transfers, accommodation again in Vic Falls. My communication was with Ludwick who was amazing. He went way above and beyond normal service to make me feel confident in the organisation of our trip
We worked with Gertrude to schedule and organize everything and she did an excellent job. I asked a lot of questions via e-mail and she answered everyone in a timely helpful manner. Our guide at Victoria Falls was also great. He met us at the airport, provided a thoughtful tour of the Falls and got us to our next guide in Botswana.
Falcon safaris have given my the correct advice with excellent service. The only suggestion will be to work closer with the lodges to confirm bookings as soon as possible. We have booked and pay our deposit a year in advance. We have only receive our final convermation from Chobe Safari lodge a week before departure.
I thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon with the elephants. I rode an 8 year old female, her name is not in my head, and it was magical. She loved her treats at the end of the ride and her trainer was a lovely man. We talked the whole hour and he taught me so much about these magical creatures.
Gertrude was always very prompt in replying during the planning process and very helpful with visa information. This trip to Africa was our first and we started with Kenya and a 10 day safari. We wanted to experience water camps and lodges as well so worked with Falcon to make that happen.
myself and my 13yr old daughter used Falcon Safaris for all our outings as well as airport transfers. Canoeing, Devils Pool visit and Elephant back ride. They were all fantastic especially Vimbai and Edna. We had an amazing time and nothing was too much trouble to sort out for us.
Take the hassle out of your trip planning. We'll match you with top travel specialists.
